Pleasant Grove This Spring

  1. God is merciful! From the looks of it, everyone should be gone, not just houses. Lord, help us to use this tragedy to show Your love to the hurting and lost. Amen
2Cor.5:1-7 For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened--not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight.

  3. absolutely unbelievable. seeing it in person makes it hit home, doesn't it? so very sad....and yet we were amazed at the thankful hearts of so many who lost everything they owned. it's going to be a long haul, plenty left for the church to do for sure...what a blessing to see the Body of Christ in action!
Blessings to you...I hadn't checked in on your blog for awhile and I am glad I 'popped' in tonight!

  4. I have gone with the Samaritian's Purse into Pleasant Grove and Pratt City. Standing in the middle of that massive destruction is life changing. I was struck most by the overwhelming silence.

As human beings we are so pious when in reality we are truly quite small. All the more reason to praise God for even noticing us - much less loving us enough to know the number of hairs on EVERY head.....

  5. Sherri, I'm just now seeing these pictures. I was at the FBC Pleasant Grove when you spoke there...and the pictures above are of my house, in my yard, and of my neighborhood. You and Rick stopped by while my husband was there.

I wanted to say thank you for showing God's love to those of us that were affected by this horrible storm. We (along with our 3 kids) were safe in our basement, with no injuries. Some of our neighbors were not.

The loss of your son Bronner and your stand for Christ, even through that loss, is what brought me back to God. Our oldest daughter is only 3 months older than Bronner. You and Rick helped me see that my most important duty as a parent is to see that my kids know Christ and what He did for us...and to live it, not just teach it.

Again, Thank You! May God continue to bless you.
